Conference Program Reframing Diplomacy, Leiden
How should diplomatic historians interpret the role of citizens and private organisations in international affairs?
On 6-7 September 2013 the conference Reframing Diplomacy: New Diplomatic History in the Benelux and Beyond will take place at the University of Leiden. Supported by the Institute of History, the Leiden University Fund, the University of Turku (Finland), and the RSC, the conference will be an important meeting place for a diverse community of scholars working on new approaches to diplomatic history in the twentieth century. The conference brings together around fifty historians and political scientists from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Britain, Finland, Chile, India, and the United States to discuss new research directions in the field. Organised with the support of the New Diplomatic History Network, the intention is that this event will be a first step towards organising similar workshops and seminars in the future.
