Announcement: Four Freedoms in the Classroom
A joint production of the Roosevelt Foundation, University College Roosevelt, and the RIAS, "Vier Vrijheden in de Klas" will be officially presented on 6 January 2021.
Every other year since 1982, the city of Middelburg has hosted the Four Freedoms Awards, an award that recognises organizations and individuals deemed to embody the ideals of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 ceremony has unfortunately had to be postponed to next year. In order to still highlight the Four Freedoms, the Roosevelt Foundation sponsored the creation of an alternative program, aimed high schools across the Province of Zeeland. The materials created for that program have now been bundled into a new booklet, "De Vier Vrijheden in de Klas."
"Vier Vrijheden in de Klas" contains complete lesson plans, information, and inspiration for teachers looking to intregrate the Four Freedoms, the Roosevelts, and the history of the United Nations and human rights into the curriculum. It provides entry points and exercises for different subjects, for students and pupils in all levels of primary and secondary education.
The booklet will be formally presented, online, on the 6th of January. In order to attend, please send an email to the organizers at MUN@ucr.nl.
