Meet the Team: Thomas Doherty, Fulbright Visiting Scholar

The RIAS is delighted to welcome Thomas Doherty, who will hold the Fulbright Distinguished Research Chair at the institute during the Fall of 2018.

Thomas Doherty
Dr. Doherty is Professor of American Studies at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, where he teaches on film and media in the history of the United States. During his time at the RIAS, he will be working on a book project entitled Little Lindy is Kidnapped: How the Crime of the Century Shaped the Modern Media, on the Lindbergh kidnapping case of 1932 and its transformative effect on the American media landscape.

"I am delighted—and grateful—to be a Fulbright scholar at the Roosevelt Institute for American Studies in the charming city of Middelburg, an MGM set designer’s ideal of a colorful Dutch locale," he notes. "Also, this is the first time I have ever occupied an office in a medieval abbey."
