New Alumni Contributions

The RIAS provides three-month internships to Dutch BA/MA students with an interest in the United States. Over the years, our growing network of alumni has gone on to use their experience at the RIAS as a stepping-stone for a wide variety of further careers.

In our alumni section, our former interns share  stories of the places  their internships took them.

Juri Ferri

Juri Ferri was an intern at the (then) RSC in 2015. He subsequently moved to the UK to attend London Film School, where he found a creative outlet for his passion for history. His latest project, "Meidagen," takes him back to Zeeland: it is a story about a Dutch soldier in the first days of the Second World War, based on the experience of his great-grandfather.

Lise Koning

After completing her internship in 2012, Lise Koning went on to study American Studies at Smith College. Upon returning to the Netherlands, she went on to carve out a career for herself as a public historian, working as an archivist, a writer, and most recently, as the organizer of a series of "Historical Cafés" - meeting-places where young historians can share their interests with the public. On 2 May 2019, she will be hosting a ‘Historisch Café' in the Zeeland Archive in Middelburg on the transatlantic slave trade.
