Online Course: The Rooseveltian Century

Who were Franklin, Eleanor, and Theodore Roosevelt? What values did the three Roosevelts stand for? How did these two presidents and one first lady influence the world we live in?

The RIAS, with support from Leiden University, has created an online course, freely available via the Coursera platform. The course explores twentieth century US history in an innovative way through these three unique leaders.

As of 1 January 2019 the academic director of the RIAS Giles Scott-Smith has been appointed as Roosevelt Chair in New Diplomatic History at Leiden University.

The annual newsletter The Roosevelt  2018 is now available.  

On Tuesday 2 April 2019, the US Ambassador to Netherlands Peter Hoekstra will deliver the Spring Roosevelt Lecture on "The U.S. and the Netherlands: Building on 400 Years."

The RIAS has extended its primary sources on Jimmy Carter with the acquisition of a 46-reel  microfilm collection on foreign policy during his presidency.
