On Monday 29 September 2025, the RIAS will organize a Roosevelt Lecture by the Pulitzer-Prize winning reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones. The engaging lecture, titled “The Battle for the Soul of America,” will take place at the Town Hall in Middelburg and starts at 16:00.
The visionary behind ‘The 1619 Project’ and staff writer at The New York Times, Nikole Hannah-Jones will be joining forces with organizations across the country for a powerful multi-city tour, including here in Middelburg.
In this Roosevelt Lecture, Damian Pargas will lead a conversation with Nikole Hannah-Jones. Together, they will take a clear look at where America stands today—exploring how history, democracy, and the fight for justice are deeply connected, especially at a time when all three are under pressure.
