On April 8-10, the RIAS will be hosting an international conference on Gender & Conservatism in U.S. History. While conservatism has often been framed as a predominantly masculine terrain, this event will bring together scholars from around the world to examine the crucial role of women – and gendered ideals more broadly – in shaping conservative ideology, activism and culture in the United States.
Across two days of paper presentations and workshops, participants will explore topics ranging from religion and race to political thought and grassroots organizing. Following a collaborative symposium format, the event is designed to foster discussion, exchange feedback on works-in-progress, and spark new conversations in the field. We are delighted to welcome Lisa McGirr (Harvard University) as the keynote speaker. If you are interested in this conference, please reach out to info@roosevelt.nl.
The full program will be announced in early 2026!
