Cees Heere was a postdoctoral research at RIAS from 2017 to 2021.
He focused on the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, an era that saw the United States coming of age as a world power. His main fields of research lie in Anglo-American relations (including relations between the United States and the British Empire), the history of empires and colonialism, and transnational history, including the history of migration and border control. At the RIAS, he worked on the Pacific Relations project, dedicated to exploring the global dimensions of US immigration policy during the first half of the twentieth century.
